The Gender Studies Club and the Alliance Present the Gender Bender Ball

Dance away gender stereotypes and celebrate cultural diversity, all at once.

All week in the Corner Café you have to opportunity to donate flex cash or real cash toward buying canned food for Baxter Community Center. There will be a marked deposit bin for the cans in the Corner.

On Tuesday, you can travel to Veteran’s Park between 11:15-1PM and help serve lunch to displaced community members. Feel free to bring or make food to bring with you.

On Wednesday, Janay Brower, a member for Coalition to End Homelessness, will be speaking about Homelessness & Sustainability in Wege Ballroom from 12:15-2PM. Free soup and bread will be available!

On Thursday, Lori Fedewa, from GRACE Congregational Partnership Program, will be speaking from 12:15-2PM in Wege Loutit Room.

Also on Thursday, there will be a Hunger Banquet at Knape Hall starting at 6PM. Please join the Social Justice House in support of raising awareness about these social issues. Donations are welcome.

On Friday, you can take a tour of the Heartside District with Dwelling Place Ministries from 11-12:30PM.

Also on Friday, join us in Wege Mall for Habitat for Humanity’s Box City from 7PM-6AM, to raise awareness about what it is like to live homeless. Feel free to bring food to share.

On Saturday, you can sign up to participate in a build for Habitat for Humanity starting at 8AM.

On Sunday, join us in the Moose for “Words Against Hunger,” bringing you two blue-grass bands, and an opportunity to share your own creative pieces from 3-5PM.

Sometimes we need a little reminder to help us remember that we are blessed. That’s where the Blessing Stone comes in. This is a little polished stone that serves the purpose of reminding us to count our blessings. If you would like your very own blessing stone, you can get one during dinner (5pm – 7pm) at Wege on Thursday, March 18th. They are free, but there is a limited amount. Brought to you by the Social Justice LLC. Find happiness within yourself by counting your blessings.

Aquinas students, the Social Action Committee would like to remind you all that the “Flex Away Hunger” initiative is going on all next week (March 22-26). If you’re not aware, this would be the opportunity for you to donate some of your flex cash; by purchasing a canned good off of the “Flex” shelf in the corner, you will help someone who is less fortunate than yourself. All Canned items will go to the Baxter Community Center. This event is co-sponsored through Creative Dining Services, Campus Ministry, CAVA, and Habitat for Humanity.

Interested in doing something different, foreign, and mischeivious? French Club will be putting together a fun day-long, campus-wide event to happen before Easter break! Planning begins with a meeting this coming Monday at 4pm in Lower Wege. Preparations will be Wednesday evening, March 31st. Details to follow.

PennyBen has partnered with the Grand Rapids Griffins to raise funds for the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge of Grand Rapids. We are selling tickets to the Friday, March 26th, and Saturday, March 27th, Griffins games (both start at 7 PM). During Saturday’s game, the Griffins will wear specially designed jerseys, which will be autographed and auctioned off, with Hope Lodge being the sole beneficiary!

• Individual tickets are $13
• Friday’s game is dollar-beer/dollar-hot dog night and there will be a free shuttle service between campus and the game
• Buy 3 tickets for Saturday’s game and get the 4th free
• The first 2,500 fans at Saturday’s game get a free beach towel

POLIS will be cleaning up a stretch of the Beltline on Saturday March 20. A few years back we adopted the stretch of M-37 by  Calvin. If you’re interested in helping clean up the streets show up in front of Holmdene at 10 a.m.
