Anyone still looking to scrounge up some volunteer hours before the school-year ends? We have the perfect opportunity for you. Sunday, March 21 Spring Lake Community Fitness and Aquatic Center will be hold its first annual indoor triathlon. We are very excited here and we are looking to really put on a great event for the community. The only thing we still need is some more help. We need help with things like lap counting for the running and swimming portions, people to monitor the bikers, and others to help with transitions. We are looking for all the help we can get. The Open Book Project is an after-school program working with Grand Rapids Public Schools high school students to improve their grades, get ready for college/or a job, and to keep them out of trouble.

Our volunteer program is designed to provide college students with an opportunity to develop the key skills employers are looking for. You will prove that you are reliable, responsible, and committed to your local community. You will also gain experience working with students from diverse backgrounds. This is a stellar opportunity for those who are thinking about careers in education, business, and social work.

You will be working at Ottawa Hills High School which is conveniently located only 2.6 miles away from Aquinas’ campus!

Volunteer’s Responsibilities:

1. Assist with educational workshops
2. Prepare materials for activities
3. Act in a profession manner at all times
4. Conduct themselves as a representative of the Open Book Project
5. Provide support and information to participants
6. Assist with set-up/break-down and clean up of site

Schedule: (You can volunteer any time you have open)

Mondays 3:30-5:30pm

Wednesdays 3:30-5:30pm

Fridays 3:30-5:30pm
